Dr. Maxwell grew up in Liverpool, NY. and earned his bachelor of science degree in biochemistry from SUNY Oswego. He received his doctorate of chiropractic and certification in whole foods nutrition at New York Chiropractic College. Dr. Maxwell earned his second doctorate in acupuncture and Chinese medicine at Pacific College of Health Sciences in San Diego.

Additionally, during the course of his education he has received primary care physician training and has taught nutrition, biochemistry, and physiology at the doctoral level. His academic research includes genomics, diabetes, and psychology. Dr. Maxwell received additional certifications and training in Usui Reiki, QHHT (hypnosis), and CPR.

Dr.Maxwell offers Traditional Medicine. which he refers to as "health practices, approaches, knowledge, and beliefs incorporating plant, animal and mineral based medicines along with spiritual therapies, manual techniques, & exercises applied singulary or in combination to diagnose, treat, and prevent illness or maintain well being".
