OUR STORY

About The Center

A place where healing, wellness, and connection come together — supporting body, mind, and spirit.

Our Story

The Center was founded by Mary Anne Giacona more than 35 years ago, born from her belief that there was a more complete way to approach health and well-being — one that considered the whole person and encouraged greater communication, understanding, and participation in the wellness process.

Mary Anne's own health journey played an important role in shaping that vision. After experiencing health challenges and finding meaningful improvement through natural and complementary approaches, she came to appreciate the value of looking beyond symptoms and considering the many aspects of well-being. She envisioned a place where people could feel heard, explore different approaches, and have choices in how they cared for themselves.

From the beginning, The Center's philosophy has not been about replacing conventional medicine, but about recognizing the value of complementary approaches and bringing different areas of knowledge together. No two people are exactly alike, and what supports one person's well-being may be very different from what another person needs.

That philosophy became the foundation of The Center — a place where experienced practitioners offer a diverse range of services designed to support body, mind, spirit, and emotional well-being, while encouraging each person to become an active participant in their own journey toward greater health and balance.

PERSONALIZED WELLNESS

A Whole-Person Approach to Wellness

Mind

Well-being begins with feeling heard, understood, and empowered. Through supportive services that encourage self-awareness, personal growth, relaxation, and greater balance, we help individuals reconnect with their own needs and become active participants in their wellness journey.

Body

Every body is different, and care should reflect that. Our massage and bodywork, skincare, spa therapies, and other wellness services are thoughtfully tailored to the individual — supporting relaxation, physical well-being, and the body's natural ability to restore balance

Spirit

We recognize the important connection between physical, emotional, and spiritual well-being. Through Energy Medicine, Reiki, intuitive work, and other complementary approaches, we offer opportunities to reconnect with your inner wisdom and nurture a deeper sense of balance and connection.

A Place With History

The Center is housed within a beautifully restored former church and school whose history has been part of the Auburn community for generations. The former St. John’s Episcopal Church traces its beginnings to 1868, when General John H. Chedell donated the land on which the original church was built. The Gothic church that stands today welcomed its first service in 1881.In 2006, Mary Anne Giacona purchased the property with a vision for giving these remarkable buildings a new purpose while preserving the character and history that make them so special. The former school became home to The Center’s wellness and spa services, while restoration of the historic church eventually created the beautiful Cathedral Room used today for weddings and special events. More than simply a setting, these historic surroundings have become part of The Center itself — a place where the past has been thoughtfully preserved while creating space for wellness, connection, and meaningful moments today.
